Trump’s Deep State of His Own Making

republished 4/24/2020

I have published this post previously, gone back and tweaked it several times.

This time was an exception.

I lost it.

Believe I know how you feel having to retype it several times. And you have to read it several times I imagine since it is slow going in a few spots.

I hope you finish it though because it is urgent that voters understand what is at stake in November’s election.

The best way I can describe Trump’s power is to dissect the 2016 and why his supporters continue to absolve him of wrongdoing.

The Case for Trump’s Deep State

Trump doesn’t like the term “deep state”.  He thinks it sounds so “conspiratorial
” (“The Hill Rising” with Krystal and Buck January 16,2019).

Deep State “What Does it Mean”

Deep State ” is believed to be a clandestine network entrenched inside the government.” The Turkish term is derin devlet.

This group was founded in 1923 by Mustafa Kemal Ataturk with the purpose of undertaking clandestine acts to preserve the current (his) government structure.

Deep State Today

Deep State is usually used in the context of Trump’s enemies.

I do not think that is appropriate any longer. He has run several “purges” to eliminate any potential in-house enemies.

In fact, I believe, whenever he is defeated he will leave behind a huge army of deep staters approved by Trump.

On Friday, January 11th, 2019, The New York Times started an avalanche of articles, discussions, and arguments with the story on Trump as an asset of Russia.

This story got a lot of “play” over the weekend but it was nothing new to me. I have believed since March of 2015 when I started to write a blog exposing him as a malignant narcissist and enemy of the United States. I am searching for that material so I can reprint it.

It is important background information to support my current belief that Trump is actively trying to destroy the government of the United States.

I believe it is also why the Republicans have not come to the aid of the United States. They have been shirking their oversight responsibilities for over three years.

They aid and abet his conspiracy theories and criminality because they will snatch up the pieces that are left and privatize those parts to their great profit.

So what are your thoughts?

The following is my post. A great amount of research and study. I have also written many other articles on him, his behavior, and that of his supporters. Most can be found on this website.

Trump’s Deep State

I have not understood how he is able to keep up to 45% of the US voting population tied to his apron strings.

I have written at least two posts to this site  “How Do I Understand? aka New Information into Old Thinking” and “How Do We Recover: The Rise of the Intolerants.

I found an article that opened my eyes to some thinking that must have gone on his supporter’s minds.

It was in an online magazine “Cognoscenti” by Julie Wittes Schlack. Julie Wittes Schlack I Keep Trying to Understand Trump Voters. But I keep Failing.

She distills the information from the book “Strangers in Their Own Land” by Arlie Russell Hochschild. |The New Press.

The thrust of the book is to explain that people shoehorn new information into old beliefs. This causes them to vote against their own best interests.

One example is that they will vote against their economic needs to fulfill their emotional needs!

“The Deep Story” on these people stay “focused on the American Dream: the idea that if you work hard and play by the rules you can have a better life.

It is now the 21st century and their long-held dream is not realized and they recognize that it is probably shattered.

More explanation will be coming shortly.

Another blockbuster moment AHA! is an article by Noah Berlatsky“The Trump Effect: New Study Connects White American Intolerance and Support for Authoritarianism.”

Mr. Berlatsky’s “research suggests that when intolerant white people fear democracy they abandon their commitment to democracy.

Hilary Clinton decried the “Deplorable” during the campaign of 2016. I now call them the Intolerants.

This theory is also described in greater length later but it distills down to “I am entitled to my dream which promises a living and certain comforts. I will not let people less then me (i.e. blacks and browns) come in and take that dream from me.

Introduction to Dr. Bobby Azarian

Much of this post is based on articles in “Psychology Today” dated 12/12/2018 by Bobby Azarian, Ph.D. Dr. Azarian is the author ofMind in the Machine.”

I have made many predictions over the last three years in regard to Trump. I will make another one here.

I believe that if Trump doesn’t win the election in November he will not turn over the reigns of power voluntarily.

The Senators that have greased the way for Trump and Mitch McConnell, Lindsey Graham, and Marco Rubio.

The major players all made trips to Russia. They were rewarded with major contributions to their reelection coffers.

McConnell received $3.5 million in Campaign Donations from Russian Oligarch-Linked Firm

Len Blavatnik donated $3.5 million to Mitch McConnell’s PAC from 2015 to 2017.

Lindsey Graham Received Campaign Donations from Firm tied to Russian Oligarch – the Intellusist

Mr. Graham received $800,000 from Ukranian-born oligarch with ties to Putin’s inner circle.

Marco Rubio received money from oligarch linked to Russia.

The Case for a Deep State Working for Trump

The first part of this post explained by use of the term “Deep State” to describe Trump’s deep hold on the Republicans and his supporters. The term deep state usually describes his opposition but I believe his stranglehold on his party is best described as HIS deep state.

Dr. Azarian lays out the facts. While most politicians lie, none does it in the magnitude or frequency of Trump.

Dr. Azarian has drawn some of his conclusions from a 2017 review paper published in the Journal of Social and Political Psychology by the psychologist and UC Santa Cruz professor Thomas Pettigrew.

Dr. Azarian also credits posts in publications like Psychology Today which were inspired by insights from psychologist Sheldon Solomon (who laid the groundwork for the influentialTerror Managment Theory and David Dunning and Justin Kruger who did the same for the Dunning-Kruger Effect.

The Psychological Quirk that Explains Why You Love Donald Trump – Politico

The popularity of the GOP front-runner can be partially explained by the Dunning-Kruger Effect.

But the real reason that trump (tRump, Drumpf and many other appellations from his myriad detectors) appears to be invincibility with his base.

  1. Practicality trumps Morality (pun intended):

For rich people, trump gives tax cuts and they follow him anywhere even to the detriment of the environment in which they live.

2. The brain’s attention span is more strongly engaged by Trump:

For a study in the Washington Post “Participants watched 40 minutes of political ads.”

Hillary Clinton their attention for only so long.

Trump held their attention and emotional arousal high throughout the session. Even when participants didn’t agree with his statements.

3. America’s Obession with Entertainment Celebrities:

Trump supporters are addicted to entertainment and so-called reality TV. Some of his supporters even forgive what he says. They seem happy “as long as they are entertained.”

4. “Some Men Just Want to Watch the World Burn“:

Some of his supporters are probably too rebellious and just love chaos. They seek to trounce the establishment even with fire when necessary. Dr. Azarian labels this Schadenfreude.

5. The Fear Factor: Conservatives are More Sentive to Threats:

“Science has shown that the conservative brain has an exaggerated fear response when faced with stimuli that may be perceived as threatening.”

In the Journal “Science” a study found “that conservatives have a stronger physiological reacto to startling noises and graphic images compared to liberals.
